Privacy
Knitr is a yarn and pattern database. You don't need an account to use it, and we don't ask you for your name, your email or anything else about you. The only information we collect is what the site needs to work, plus — if you agree to it — statistics about which pages get used.
Who is responsible
Knitr is run by Lucie Zavřelová as a personal project. Questions, or any of the requests below: [email protected].

Nothing in the last row is set until you press OK on the banner. If you press "No thanks", or ignore the banner entirely, Google Analytics is never loaded at all.
What Google Analytics sees, if you allow it
Which pages you open, what you search for on the site, which filters and yarn links you click, how many times you press "Show more" on a list, roughly where you are (city level, worked out from your IP address — we never see the address itself), what kind of device and browser you're using, and whether you opened Knitr from your phone's home screen or in a browser tab. It also assigns your browser a random identifier so that two visits can be recognised as the same visitor. It's not linked to your name, because we never have it.
We use this to see which yarns and searches people actually find useful. That's the whole purpose. We don't advertise, we don't sell anything to anyone, and we don't build profiles.
Who else is involved
- Google (Google Ireland Limited) processes the analytics data described above, and may transfer it to the United States under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. Legal basis: your consent. Google keeps event data for 2 months and data tied to your device for up to 14 months. We do not use Google Signals, so nothing here is used for advertising.
- DigitalOcean, who host the site on servers in Frankfurt, and Cloudflare, whose network DigitalOcean uses to deliver the pages, process your IP address to send you the site and protect it from attacks. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in operating a working, secure site. Both are US companies and may transfer data to the United States under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. They keep this only as long as they need it for security and running the site. Knitr's own server doesn't record your IP address.
- Vercel handles the short redirect from kn-tr.com to www.kn-tr.com and keeps ordinary server logs, including your IP address, for up to 24 hours.
Nobody else receives anything. No advertising networks, no data brokers, no social media trackers.
Changing your mind
"Cookie settings" at the bottom of any page reopens the banner. Choosing "No thanks" stops any further collection, and removes the identifier Google put in your browser — so your visits stop being recognised as the same person's. What Google already recorded stays with Google until the retention periods above run out. We can't reach into that and delete it for you.
Your rights
The one that does something immediately: you can withdraw consent whenever you like, without giving a reason, using "Cookie settings" at the bottom of any page. It stops collection and removes the identifier from your browser, as described above. Withdrawing doesn't make the earlier collection unlawful — it ends it.
The law also gives you the right to a copy of your data, to correct it, delete it, restrict how it's used, or take it elsewhere. However, on Knitr there's no account, nothing is attached to your name, and we genuinely can't tell which records are yours. If you do know your Google Analytics identifier — the value of the _ga cookie in your browser — send it to [email protected] and we can act on that one.
If you think we've handled this badly, you can complain to the Office for Personal Data Protection (Úřad pro ochranu osobních údajů), Pplk. Sochora 27, 170 00 Praha 7, uoou.gov.cz.
Automated decisions
There aren't any. Nothing on this site profiles you or makes a decision about you.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect, we'll ask for your consent again rather than quietly updating the page.
In effect from 2026-09-30.
